Liferaft Service

Liferaft Servicing Across Cornwall, Devon and Dorset

We are an Approved Liferaft Service Station, certified by manufacturers, inspected by the MCA and carry liabilty insurance cover of four million pounds.

Approvals include AVON, AUTOFLUG, BFA, BOMBARD, JON BUOY, OCEAN SAFETY, PLASTIMO, PRO-SAVER, RFD PACIFIC, WAYPOINT, WETLINE, XM and ZODIAC as well as most Chandlery branded liferafts.

Our technicians attend regular service courses, we are notified of any modifications or recalls necessary.

Owners are welcome to watch their liferaft being inflated and checked.

We have a regular collection and return service across the South West with drop off points at or near all the marinas and boatyards.

During the survey the liferaft is inflated and carefully monitored pressure tests are carried out, the inflation system is checked and reset, the cylinder may be due for a hydrastatic test, if so, it is sent of for test and recharge and refurbishment if needed.

The liferaft is checked for general condition, dryness etc. It is then checked for all notified modifications and these are carried out as needed. The emergency pack is checked and updated as necessary, any expired items are replaced. All equipment is checked and log books completed. Any repairs needed to the liferaft or container are carried out. When the liferaft has passed all the pressure tests to the manufacturers specifications the liferaft is carefully folded, the vacuum bag replaced if necessary, the firing assembly checked and rechecked and then finally packed into its container and sealed. Any labelling required is now fitted to the container and a certificate of service issued. Most liferafts now have a three year service interval, although older or commercial liferafts may still require an annual survey.

The cost of the service will vary with each liferaft, we are pleased to provide an estimate before we start. A detailed quote involves carrying out all the testing so we will do this but have to make a charge if we do not carry on with the service.  If a liferaft is obviously unserviceable on opening there will be no charges.

The final bill will consist of the following items, the survey fee which includes certification documents + cost of pack and equipment replacements needed, +cylinder testing and filling if needed, +vacuum bag if needed, +canister cleaning and closing materials if needed, +carriage if applicable, +VAT. We DO NOT charge hidden extras such as “documentation fees, packing charges etc.”  Labour for all modifications and small repairs are included in the survey fee. Any major repair work will have been discussed and quoted for.
